設校緣由與宗旨

行政院政務委員李國鼎先生擔任「應用科技研究發展小組」召集人之時,經赴美考察於1980年9月擇新竹成立科學工業園區,吸引高科技產業進駐園區並延攬外籍人士及歸國學人回國服務。考量園區投資廠商、事業單位、政府機關、學術研究機構員工子女就學之需要,李召集人與時任教育部長之朱匯森先生洽商,由園區管理局設立一所實驗學校,同時規畫設置雙語部,提供符合國際水準之教育資源,以銜接海外學人原居國或僑居地之教育,並培養雙語言多元文化之人才。「國立科學工業園區實驗高級中學」遂於1982年6月奉准籌備,1983年8月正式成立。2021年1月1日因應園區更名為「新竹科學園區」並依《高級中等教育法》,本校更名為「國立新竹科學園區實驗高級中等學校」簡稱「國立竹科實中」。
When Dr. Kwoh-ting Li was the Minister without portfolio, serving as the R&D team convener of the applied technology of the Executive Yuan, he established the first Science Park in Hsinchu in 1980 – attracting high-tech industries to settle in the park and recruiting foreign nationals and returnees to serve in Taiwan. Considering the educational needs of the children of investment firms, business units, government agencies, and academic research institutions in the park, Dr. Li and Mr. Chu Hui-Sen, then Minister of Education, discussed the establishment of an experimental school by the Science Park Bureau, while also planning to set up a bilingual section to provide international standards education, bridging the education of overseas scholars’ home countries or places of residence and cultivating students with bilingual and multicultural competencies. NEHS was officially established in August 1983.

學校特色與願景

全國首創高中及國中部、國小部、幼兒園部與雙語部五部共存共榮之大型學校——學生年級自幼兒園至高中(3-18歲),學制自我國課綱至美國Common Core。秉持互助合作、教學相長之精神及創校以來之自由學風,全體師生共享校園環境與資源設備,發展各部特色課程與活動,共創同享實中榮譽。本著校訓「誠懇、踏實、創新、超越」之精神,制訂校務發展計畫,實踐以學生學習為中心之辦學宗旨,強調多元文化、國際視野與服務精神,培育具備國際移動力之思辨世界公民。
National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park (NEHS) is a large school where the high school, middle school, elementary school, preschool, and bilingual school (also known as IBSH) coexist and thrive. Preschool to high school follows Taiwan’s MOE curriculum guidelines, whereas IBSH adapts to the American Common Core standards. Upholding the spirit of liberalism, cooperation, and lifelong learning, all teachers and students share the campus and resources. Distinctive curricula and activities are developed in each school to create and share honors with one another. Guided by the school motto of “Sincerity, Perseverance, Innovation, and Excellence,” NEHS nurtures global citizens with multiculturalism, the spirit of service, critical thinking, and international mobility.
